WBA academy mini soccer festival January 3rd 2010
Vikings were invited along with many other midlands youth teams to participate in this non-competitive mini soccer festival. We were joined by teams from the Lichfield league and teams from other leagues to play three fifteen minute games.
Vikings first game against Shelfield was more like a local derby with these teams having played each other in the past. Shelfield took an early lead to the excitement of their supporters. Vikings liking the challenge did not drop their heads, an equaliser by Stanley and a strong headed clearance by Cockayne set up Dixon to clinch a 2-1 victory.
The second game against Bourneville saw Viking field their only seven against a team strengthened by academy players. Bourneville never penetrated Vikings defence and goals a piece for Bannister and Dixon sealed a pleasurable 2-0 victory. Excellent battling from Court and shared keeping by defenders Vincent and Parkes.
Vikings final game against Colron ‘B’ saw some good passing football from a settled seven, Court clinical to the bottom right, Cockayne converting a corner and Dixon found the net again to wrap up a 3-1 victory and a very enjoyable morning.
Thanks to all the parents for their support.
